Our ignorance is blinding us from seeing the possibility of exponential growth within our very own communities. WE need to make a change & with your help, we can do just that!
At a time of such uncertainty, one factor I can be a part of is change. Be the voice and advocate for a cultural oppression that has not been given one. Be the voice for your brothers and sisters of all cultures that have not been given the same rights and privileges as you. Be the change to stop police brutality in a country with such government corruption. Be the voice that needs to be heard when others are silenced by hostility.
We all have access to one missing key form of change, that is love. While I am fully aware that you cannot change people, I can try my best to influence and educate the ignorant folks surrounding us. How can you have a full representation of change if you don’t have the backing of everyone? We can’t, but we can sure as hell try to be there, represent for the voices that aren’t heard and speak up when racism and aggression strikes.
Generation upon generation are fueled by the concept that white people should feel sorry for a culture of black Americans because of the way they were treated. Don’t you think it’s bigger than that? Dr. King marked his territory in black history by standing up for what is right, by proving that black lives matter peacefully and by showing love and appreciation for all people while doing it. Was his job happy go lucky every day? Hell NO! He worked hard toward justice for the black community at a time when it was never acceptable to do so. He went out of his way to stand up for a specific race and bring together a whole concept of strength and dignity while doing so. Many people are so quick to focus on the positives of what Dr. King did but they aren't quick to fully put forth the effort of understanding the immense task that he set for himself, his community and for the years to come.
We are living through Dr. King's struggle. We are able to come together as a community and fulfill the task that we are ONE NATION. Educate yourself. Talk about Bloody Sunday [March 7, 1965] when the police struck down, even killed African Americans who were walking peacefully to prove their lives mattered. Talk about the horrific brutality from cops at that time [and now]. BECAUSE, it ain't much different today. Yeah its gotten better over time, but who the hell wants better when WE have the ability to make it EQUAL. "Better" still includes beatings, killings and harsh treatment. "Better" is a way for people to neglect the fact that it is still continuing in our world today. "Better" will never be good enough until all racism and segregation within the police force and within every community is over.
No one should have to prove that their life matters. No one should have to explain themselves over and over again just to feel they have a voice. No one should have to stand up to a cop because of racial profiling. No one should have to go through the struggle of breathing because a cop is kneeling on their neck. No one should have to get shot for the world to wake up and realize that police brutality is still in existence.
Why can’t we all have that mindset that Dr. King had? Never giving up on each other. We only have each other. Be resilient at a time when standing up for one another can make such a difference! Striving to show love, support and patience in a highly judgmental state of union.
“How can I do more?” should be the question on everyone’s mind. You alone, reaching out and ensuring that you want to further educate yourself on how to be the change is doing your part. After that, be the help. Advocate peacefully. Teach those around you the concept of gratitude and love. Why is it so hard for people to express love to the unknown?
I’m here. I support. Tell me what to do... ITS THAT SIMPLE PEOPLE. What direction do you foresee your country going? I would hope the first word you think of is equality. Everyone’s life is important. Every race is important. Every demographic is important. Every form of relationship is important. Love is love. Growing up in a Christian home, I was taught a song “red, yellow, black and white, they are precious in his sight”. I find the lyrics floating in my head every time I question the judgement of others. Why do people make it their priority to fully throw their depreciation for cultures in each other’s faces? It’s like they can’t live peacefully until they have gotten their bullshit, disregard for others, statement across to make people feel belittled. We are supposed to be a nation who cares. We are supposed to be a nation that stands up for one another. We are supposed to be a nation that looks for justice, peace and protection in times of needs.
I have a voice to create change within my own house. I know that when the time comes, VERY far down the road, and I bring children into this world, they will know love is love. They will be loved for exactly who they want to be. That they will find peace and patience within the walls that we create. That division will no longer flourish but merely be a sad twinkling of an attribute to society. Teaching your childrens, children the devaluation of race and the appreciation for the struggle which will soon succeed. Not promoting but denoting the intellectual bounds that have been known to us for many years.
Your discrimination creates additional incrimination. If we can all get on the same page of loving one another, putting aside our differences and introducing the concept of change to all our brothers and sisters around us, this movement can create waves that flow throughout generations to come.
DONT FORGET
